The weather outside may be frightful, but that doesn’t mean the fish won’t bite.

A midweek visit to Chino’s Prado Provincial Park shows that the cold January weather hasn’t stopped die-hard anglers from getting out to try their luck.

Many men and women, some huddled together and some not, braved the elements to spend the day on one end of a fishing line trying to catch a fish on the other.

Dressed in a T-shirt and jeans, but no jacket, Christy Parker shared a top winter fishing secret.

“Since winter is approaching, the bass are getting closer to shore, so I try to cast close to them.”

Luis Flores, who caught a big rainbow trout, shared his own secret.

“The park fills the pond (with trout) every two weeks for people.”
