Apple said on Monday that its Vision Pro augmented reality headset will hit the US market on February 2.

The Apple Vision Pro, which was first unveiled last summer, will come with a starting price of $3,499, according to the tech giant.

Apple said it will begin pre-orders for the device on January 19 before its debut in February. When the Vision Pro launches, Apple’s physical US locations and online store will carry it.

CEO Tim Cook called it “the most advanced consumer electronic device ever” and said that “the age of spatial computing has arrived.”

Vision Pro “blends digital content with the physical world and unlocks powerful spatial experiences in VisionOS, which are controlled by the most natural and intuitive inputs possible – the user’s eyes, hands and voice,” the tech giant said.

Many existing games are compatible with headsets as well as new “spatial games” that Apple said will specifically use this technology. For movies and TV, the company said users will feel like they’re watching a selection of Apple TV+, Disney+, Max, and other content available to the Vision Pro on a “100-foot-wide” screen.

“Where the user looks remains private while navigating in Vision Pro, and eye tracking information is not shared with Apple, third-party apps, or websites,” Apple said.

It will provide an optical ID, which is based on the user’s iris, for security such as locking and unlocking the device.
