Sharjah: The 10th edition of the Salting and Fishing Festival, the leading heritage and tourism festival dedicated to the fish salting industry, recently concluded with great success, leaving an indelible mark on the attendees.

The four-day event, which was organized in partnership with Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dibba Al-Hisn Municipality, and Dibba Al-Hisn Municipal Council, was held from August 31 to September 3, and witnessed a remarkable surge in visitors, attracting more than 10,000 participants from across the country. .

The festival achieved more than just a turnout; And contributed to the amazing sales of one million dirhams for participating exhibitors. Showcasing a mixture of heritage, culture and commerce, this year’s festival received enthusiastic participation from many ministries, institutions and government agencies. They presented a variety of events, programs and activities, all aimed at highlighting the deep importance of Emirati heritage.

At the same time, private sector companies and retailers specialized in the production and sale of salty products and its derivatives, along with many fishermen and productive families, showcased various aspects of the fish salting industry and marine heritage through their exclusive offers.

The tenth edition turned into a lively celebration of Emirati heritage, offering visitors a captivating glimpse into the past through folkloric images that resonate with the culture of the East Coast. This immersive experience was enhanced by the wonderful performances of Emirati folk bands and traditional songs, evoking a sense of nostalgia and pride.

His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al-Awadi, Director General of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, confirmed that the series of continuous successes of the festival confirms its status as a prominent heritage and tourism event in the region centered around the fish-salting industry. He pointed out that the wide participation and impressive sales numbers are a testament to the achievements of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry in achieving strategic goals, especially in promoting sustainable fishing and enhancing food security.

For his part, His Excellency Talib Abdullah Al Yahyai, ​​Director of Dibba Al Hisn Municipality, praised this year’s festival as a quantum leap forward.
