With a mission to provide the upper hand to all anglers, St. Croix Rod introduced the Onchor series of steelhead and salmon trolling rods last year. Designed and handcrafted to help anglers master the full range of torture trolling techniques used to target heavy, hardheaded salmon and steelheads, the St. Croix Onchor Salmon and Steelhead in the Pacific Northwest favor salmon carts everywhere. Four Onchor fishing models have been released featuring St. Croix’s proven products such as IPC (Integrated Poly Curve), FRS (Fortified Resin System), and ART (Advanced Reinforcement Technology), along with all-new Carbon Fiber and SCIII Hybrid Carbon Fiber handlebars and S-glass linear blank designs. The exceptionally strong and durable bars handle the moderate parabola movements required that remain surprisingly light in the hand.

Onchor expands from four to 30 models for 2024

New for 2024, Onchor expands from four fishing models to a total of 30, including six fishing models, two center pin models, 14 spinning models, and eight casting models, each distinctly optimized to give anglers the edge in any presentation.

The two new trolling models – 9” Medium Force, Moderate Action (ONCC90MM2) and 10’6” Extra Heavy Force, Moderate Action (ONCC106XHM2) – feature the same SCIII Carbon / Linear S-Glass blank technology found in past trolling models this year, offering an excellent combination From feeling light in the hand, extreme durability, and smooth, forgiving equivalent action. All other rods in the Onchor extended series feature the proven performance of SCIII carbon construction that is crisp, light, strong and sensitive.

Onchor components and knob designs continue the theme of lightweight performance with uncompromising durability. Solid, double-footed stainless steel guides with heavy-duty aluminum oxide ferrules support trouble-free line management with a variety of lines, from monofilament and strand to lead core.

The lightweight, ergonomic nylon reel seats include strong nylon and stainless steel locking nuts and integrate seamlessly with an angler-friendly handle design with a wide foregrip. The handles on models of fishing and boat rods are made from lightweight, durable carbon fiber that is easy to grip, slides in and out of rod holders well, and is quick and easy to clean at the end of the day. The carbon handles are finished with a comfortable, flexible, non-deformable rubber cap. Spinning, casting, and center pin models feature premium, premium cork handles.
