Sony is refunding Last of Us 2 PS4 owners who purchased the PS5 version at full price
Sony is reportedly refunding The Last of Us 2 PS4 owners who purchased the PS5 version of the game at full price.
It appears that some players were unaware that there was an upgrade path that would allow owners of the last-gen version to purchase a new PS5 for $10/£10.
With that in mind, Sony has allegedly begun automatically refunding players who purchased The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered at full price if they already own a digital PS4 copy of The Last of Us Part 2.
“As an owner of the PS4 Digital Edition of The Last of Us Part II, a digital upgrade to the PS5 Digital Edition will be available at a deeply discounted price on launch day 1/19/24,” a message sent to players said. .
“We don’t want you to miss out on this opportunity, so as a goodwill gesture, we’ve refunded your purchase of the PS5 pre-order of The Last of Us Part II Remastered so you can purchase the digital upgrade on launch day.

“Rest assured that by purchasing the digital upgrade, you will also receive any pre-order bonuses included with your original pre-order. Your refund will be returned to your original payment method.
“This may take up to 60 days to appear on your statement. If for any reason we are unable to return the funds to your original payment method, the amount will be credited to your PlayStation Network wallet.
Key features of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered include improved graphics, a new single-player survival mode called No Return, and a trio of “Lost Levels” featuring playable sequences previously cut from the game.
“The Last of Us Part 2 is an essential game and this is the best way to play it,” according to VGC’s review of the PS5 title. “For owners of the original game, the upgrade fee is further covered by No Return and The Lost Levels, with improved visuals and haptic feedback, which is a nice, if not entirely necessary, improvement.
“The Lost Levels offers a look under the hood of rarely seen games from Naughty Dog developers, and we hope it will encourage others to do the same. No Returns sounds quaint on the surface, but in practice it’s a mode whose stealth mechanics are always worth it.” Excellent in the base game.
