LOGAN – The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is offering free access to public shooting ranges to those currently hunting, fishing or gathering in Utah on Saturday, September 23.

Free admission to Utah shooting ranges is always the fourth Saturday in September; It is also recognized throughout the United States as National Hunting and Fishing Day.

To celebrate, DWR is offering its annual free and discounted shooting promotion at Cache Valley Public Shooting Range, located at 2851 West 200 North in Logan, or Lee Kay Public Shooting Range, located at 6000 West 2100 South in Salt Lake City. city.

“Hunters and anglers are the backbone of wildlife conservation in the United States,” said J. Shirley, DWR Director. “Discounts at these shooting ranges are a small token of our appreciation to hunters and anglers for funding important wildlife projects that help maintain healthy populations of a variety of wildlife species in Utah.“.

Participants can submit a paper or electronic license or can download and store their electronic licenses via the Utah Hunting and Fishing app.

Along with free admission to the rifle, pistol and archery shooting ranges that day, they can also get up to five rounds of half-price shooting at the trap and skeet ranges at both facilities that day.

Both shooting ranges will also offer an ongoing promotion throughout the year allowing athletes to shoot for free or at a discounted price if they purchase a firearm or shooting equipment within 30 days of their visit. Proof of purchase must be provided to qualify for the deal.

“We want to promote not only fishing and hunting – two family-friendly activities – but also the sport of shooting in general,” said Blanche Smith, Le Cay Public Shooting Range Manager.
