Paleontologists may have found a missing offshoot between dinosaurs and birds: ScienceAlert
Amidst the remains of turtles and fish preserved in a fossil layer in southeast China, scientists have discovered a dinosaur skeleton with strange, bird-like features.
They are estimated to be about 30 million years older than any confirmed bird fossil, and this discovery could tell us a thing or two about the first crucial steps in their evolution.
Paleontologist Min Wang and colleagues compared the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ new paleontology named Fujianventure Miracle, with other dinosaur remains from that time and more recent ones to locate the animal within the dinosaur-bird family tree.

Remains of early bird ancestors like this are hard to come by, so they each hold important clues about the evolution of birds and the land environment they lived in.
