Netflix will not offer the Apple Vision Pro app at launch
Netflix has no plans to release an app for Apple’s upcoming Vision Pro headset, it said BloombergMark Gorman. Instead, the streaming service will be accessed via Safari and other web browsers on the headset.
“Our members will be able to enjoy Netflix on the web browser on the Vision Pro, similar to how our members can enjoy Netflix on Mac,” a Netflix spokesperson told Gurman.
In the July 2023 edition of his book employment In the newsletter, Gorman said Netflix “will still allow its iPad app to run on headphones without modification,” but now says the streaming service will not offer an app of any kind on the Vision Pro at launch. Apple is making it easier for developers to port their iPadOS apps to VisionOS, with over a million apps available on the Vision Pro App Store at launch, but Netflix has apparently opted out.
Apple recently announced several video and sports apps that will be available on the Vision Pro at launch, including Disney+, Discovery+, Max, Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+, Peacock, ESPN, MLB, NBA, and more. There’s also an MLS Season Pass in the Apple TV app.
Pre-orders for the Vision Pro begin on Friday in the US, and the headset will launch on February 2.
