Maryland to limit fishing for striped bass during the spring spawning season |  local news

Spurred by the decline of striped bass populations in Maryland waters, the state Department of Natural Resources is moving to limit fishing of the popular migratory species during its spawning season next spring.

On November 29, the Department of Natural Resources proposed emergency regulations that would cancel the state’s “trophy-rich” hunting season for two weeks in early May. That’s when in past years anglers were allowed to keep one fish per day measuring 35 inches or larger.
