Granby’s Recreation Department offers ice fishing, tubing, an after-school program and more

Granby’s Recreation Department has plenty of programs prepared for participants to stay active on these cold winter days, for both children and adults.

Kids night out

Children can join Granby Rec on February 22 for a fun-filled evening. The group will meet at the Granby Community Building at 6:30 p.m. and have dinner before heading to Colorado Adventure Park in Winter Park for tubing. Children are asked to bring warm snow clothes and a ski helmet (if they have one). Reception will take place between 9:15 and 9:30 p.m. This activity is offered to children from kindergarten through fifth grade. Cost is $25 per child, including dinner and admission to Tubing Hill. The registration deadline is February 19.

Full Moon Ski/Snowshoe

Join Granby Rec and Two Pines Supply for fun guided tours on the full moon. All rides will take place at Two Pines Supply in Granby and the cost is only $10. Leave the planning and route finding to the coaches. Bring your snowshoes or skis and enjoy the mountains in a whole new light. The next flight is scheduled for Monday, February 26, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Two Pines Supply can provide equipment, if needed, for an additional fee. Advance registration is required, and the event requires a minimum of five participants. Pre-registration is required by February 22.

Camp on Friday

Lots of Friday youth camp activities are planned this winter. Upcoming day camp activities include:

  • Colorado Adventure Park Tubes and Rides on February 16
  • Ice skating, swimming and foam pit on February 23
  • Cross-country skiing, pizza and movies on March 1
  • Ice Fishing and Movie on March 8
  • Silverthorn Recommendation. Center on Friday, March 15
  • Games, McDonald’s and a movie on March 22.

All trips are on Fridays from 8am to 5pm and meet at the Granby Community Building. Cost is $40 per person. Pre-registration is required for each day.

After school club

The after-school program is offered every Monday through Thursday from 4:10 to 6 p.m. Any child is welcome in grades kindergarten through fifth grade. The group meets in the Granby Elementary lunchroom. Cost is $10 per day, pre-registered. Activities include sports, games, homework help, arts and crafts, and free play.

Granby youth volleyball

Granby’s Recreation Department is now holding registrations for youth volleyball. This league is offered as part of the Grand County Youth Sports League. The league is open to all boys and girls from third to sixth grade. Rehearsals will begin the week of March 11. The matches will be held on the following Saturdays: April 6, 20 and 27. Pre-registration is required by Friday, March 1 and will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis until teams are full. Full. The fee is $75 (plus a $10 late fee after March 1).
