Ed Sheeran’s grand Brooklyn Triplex is back for rent
A year after renting one of Brooklyn’s most expensive pads, red-headed English singer Ed Sheeran is moving out — and the luxury apartment in the celebrity-studded building is up for rent again.
This time, the rent for a 3,200-square-foot, four-bedroom, waterfront triplex in Brooklyn Heights is $38,000 a month, compared to the $36,000 Sheeran paid. It was Brooklyn’s most expensive rental for 2023.
But now, rent is “grossing higher,” listing agent Sarah Williams, founder and CEO of SOCIETE Real Estate, told The Post.
The Triplex is located in an apartment complex, Pierhouse in Brooklyn Bridge Park, known for its celebrity clientele. Most recently, rapper Kendrick Lamar purchased a home there late last fall, paying $8.6 million for his four-bedroom triplex.
The sunny apartment for rent, at the intersection of Dumbo and Brooklyn Heights, comes with a 12-month lease and is furnished. The list was published on Monday, as first reported by the Real Deal.
“The city’s rental inventory is tight,” Williams said. She expects the unit’s renter to be “someone looking to experience New York before buying, or someone who will rent until they find the right place to buy.”
Williams said she has received inquiries from people interested in purchasing the unit, but it is not for sale.
Williams touts the vast outdoor space. Each of the two living floors has a terrace, while the top floor has 1,500 square feet of outdoor space with postcard views of lower Manhattan.
The more than 100-unit Pierhouse development, by Toll Brothers, opened in 2014. The unit originally sold for just over $6 million in 2018 to an anonymous buyer.
The Pierhouse is connected to the sparkling 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, so renter is entitled to use all the amenities of the 5-star hotel.
Inside, the apartment is filled with “only the most exceptional materials,” the listing says, with everything from high-end brands and a “six-figure investment in designer furniture.” The four bedrooms plus the living room are located downstairs, with kitchen/dining/lounge spaces above that, and topped by a balcony, with dining table and barbecue.
“The owner designed the apartment for himself, and everything is of the highest quality,” Williams said.
The record for Brooklyn rents seems to be $40,000 a month. Penthouse apartment at 67 Livingston St. It was rented 2 years ago at this high number.
As for Sheeran, 32, a four-time Grammy Award winner, last year he was embroiled in a copyright infringement lawsuit, accused of obstructing the chord progression and other musical elements of his song “Thinking Out Loud” from Marvin Gaye’s hit “Let’s Get It.” Ali.” Last May, Sheeran won the lawsuit.
Sheeran has two young daughters with his wife, Sherri Seaborn, who was recently diagnosed with cancer after a lump appeared on her arm. The family owns a mansion in Sheeran’s native Suffolk, England — a 16-acre estate called Sheeranville, which includes a library, gym, swimming pool — and even a massive treehouse.
