Drugs designed to treat diabetes have become one of the most controversial drugs of the weight-loss craze.

Ozempic and Wegovy, a drug called semaglutide designed for people with type 2 diabetes, helps the pancreas release the right amount of insulin when blood sugar levels are high.

Kentucky, Alaska, and Mississippi were in the 35-45% obesity prevalence range, while West Virginia and Louisiana were in the 45-50% range. A more recent study published in December 2023 found a similar result in terazeptide, the main ingredient in Mongaro and Zippound.
