College Football Playoff Rankings: Coach Prime, Buffs ranking after week one

BOULDER, Colorado — The Colorado Buffaloes have been ranked in the AP Top 25 College Football Playoff Poll for the first time since December 2020.

The Buffs are ranked No. 22 in the Associated Press poll of the Top 25 College Football Playoffs released Tuesday.

Colorado, a one-game winner in 2022, became the talk of the nation with a 45-42 victory over nationally ranked TCU, last season’s national championship runner-up.

TCU entered the game ranked No. 17 in the preseason poll, but has fallen behind in this week’s rankings.

New Colorado coach Dionne “Coach Prime” Sanders was asked about his ranking in his press conference on Tuesday.

“I don’t care what anyone says about where we should rank,” Sanders said. “I don’t care about any rating. I care about how we train tomorrow. That’s what I care about now. The rating has no record.”

On Saturday, CU quarterback Shedeur Sanders passed for 510 yards in the best FBS debut by a quarterback since at least 1996, possibly all time, and two-way star Travis Hunter played over 120 catches.
